Meet the Instructors

Janet and Victor founded Yoga Spirit Academy in 2007, the first 200-hour yoga teacher training in Oklahoma. Beginning in 2015, Yoga Spirit Academy began to offer the first 300-hour advanced yoga teacher training Oklahoma.

Janet Parachin, PhD, C-IAYT, Director of Yoga Spirit Academy

Janet has been studying Yoga for 25 years. She is a Certified Yoga Teacher (C.Y.T.) and Certified Yoga Therapist (C-I.A.Y.T.) with over 1800 hours training in yoga anatomy, restorative and therapeutic yoga, Ayurveda and Reiki. She is a Relax and Renew trainer certified by Judith Lasater, is certified by Peak Pilates to teach Pilates Reformer and Fitness Chair classes and by N.E.S.T.A. to teach Pilates Mat and Ball. She is a certified yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists, an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant and a Yoga and Ayurveda Wellness Consultant certified by the American Institute of Vedic Studies, and a Reiki Master Teacher. She has degrees in religion, theological studies, and education and spirituality. She has pastored churches in the Chicago area, served as a chaplain in the U.S. Navy, and taught theology at the graduate level.


Victor Parachin, M.Div., C.Y.T., Instructor at Yoga Spirit Academy

Victor is a Vedic teacher, yoga instructor and Buddhist meditation teacher. He has completed over 1000 hours of training in philosophy, anatomy, Ayurveda, restorative and therapeutic yoga. He is a Yoga and Ayurveda Wellness Consultant certified by the American Institute of Vedic Studies and is also an Advanced Reiki Practitioner. He researches and writes extensively about eastern spiritual philosophy and is the author of numerous books including Stretch Yourself: 365 Good Reasons to Do Yoga; Swami Vivekananda: Essential Writings; Eastern Wisdom for Western Minds; Sit a Bit: Five Minute Meditations for Greater Health, Harmony and Happiness; How to Be Spiritual, Not Religious: 108 Pearls of Eastern Wisdom; and Think Like the Buddha: 108 Days of Mindfulness.
