Teacher training that honors body, mind and spirit

Yoga Spirit Academy is the first and only yoga teacher training school in Tulsa offering a 200-hour certification. YSA is licensed by the state of Oklahoma as a private vocational school. The 200-hour certification is recognized in the yoga community as the standard for yoga teachers.

YSA offers training in hatha yoga that is excellent, affordable, and accessible, following a curriculum recognized by the yoga community as the standard for yoga teachers.

We seek to build community among new and established yoga teachers through monthly trainings and through the incorporation of mentor teachers in the program.

The focus is non-denominational hatha yoga, offering students opportunity to explore various styles of yoga. Some students may wish to go on to receive further training in a specific style of yoga.

The comprehensive curriculum covers yoga teaching techniques, teaching methodology, yoga anatomy and physiology, yoga philosophy, yoga history, lifestyle and ethical behavior of the yogi, and practical experience in teaching and observing.

Training Schedule

Students completing this 200-hour teacher training program receive their certification as a Certified Yoga Teacher (C.Y.T.). Classes meet once a month for one year. Additional independent study hours are also required. New students can enroll either in July or January. The program can be completed in one year, but students have up to three years to complete all requirements. If you miss a weekend, you can make it up the next time it is offered, either six months or one year later.

The yoga teacher training program costs $2400 and can be divided into twelve monthly installments of $200 due on the first day of each month. The tuition charge includes the monthly trainings, student teaching, and independent studies. The Yoga Anatomy and Physiology course is offered separately, either as a correspondence course for $200 or as a hands-on course for $250. Anyone interested in yoga anatomy and physiology is welcome to enroll in the course without applying to the full teacher training program. Click on "Anatomy and Physiology" for more details.
