Yoga Anatomy and Physiology
Yoga Anatomy and Physiology is 20-hour course that explores the ways muscles, bones, and connective tissues work together as the body practices yoga. A special emphasis is placed on the dynamics of particular types of poses, such as forward bending, backbending, twisting, balancing, and flowing. The particular benefits of meditation and relaxation are also explored in-depth.
Anyone interested in learning more about yoga anatomy and physiology is welcome to enroll in this course. You do not have to be enrolled in the full Yoga Teacher Training program in order to take this course. If you do decide to enroll in the full program, this course will fulfill the anatomy and physiology requirement.
The course is offered in two formats. The Anatomy and Physiology Correspondence Course is an independent study presented in 10 modules, each taking approximately 2 hours to complete. After enrolling and paying $200 in tuition, a student receives the first five modules, either in print or by e-mail attachment. As they complete each module, the student returns them to to their adviser for grading and feedback. When all 10 modules are complete, the student receives a certificate of completion. To enroll, fill out the application form and return it with payment to the school.
